This is a collection of paintings referencing Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil created in 2014. These paintings reside in private collections now. Following are their descriptions.
Finality of Words, 48x36" Oil on Canvas by artist Lauren Lee. This painting originated out of a series of surreal illustrations I created and wanted to see come alive into oil paintings. This figure represents woman as universal icon of emotionality, with an emphasis on reticence. The concept that if I pause, what might change in the Universe. What may happen if I do not contribute. It is the symbol of the becoming the Observer.
Waves of Sound 48x36" Oil on Canvas. This painting again uses woman as universal symbol of emotionality, this series of work focuses on obscuring one or more of the human senses. In her case, the hearing is masked by two butterflies, butterflies being a symbol of God, or God-like presence. The symbolism arises out of overwhelm, whether it be through meditation or the meditation of art, this painting speaks to allowing the world to be filtered through spirtuality. Spiritual hearing, slowing down, muffling the world through different perception.
Field of Visions, 48x36", Oil on Canvas. Field of Visions is a powerful figure blanketed by a field of roses. She is a balance of two natures, power and delicacy. Her eyes are covered by a monarch butterfly, a symbol of spirituality, transformation and fertility. Her hair is black with blue tones, and its rising speaks of the supernatural. The use of the female figure in this work is a symbol of emotionality, and the fact that her eyes are obscured is intended to show that she is seeing through a spiritual lens, sensing possibilty versus viewing the world through human eyes.
